Jack and Cathy Emery, who have operated a number of Pub / Restaurants in the area since 1993, are delighted  to announce that we have extended and improved the facilities that we offer at The Chequers. We  have just had a major refurbishment and reopened on Monday 27th November 2006 as a non smoking venue that will cater for all.

Situated in the heart of Mid Bedfordshire on the edge of the ancient village of Houghton Conquest, we are located two miles north of Ampthill and five miles south of Bedford on the  B530 and within easy reach of Kempston, Flitwick, Maulden, Wilstead, and Haynes.

As well as the bar and dining area there is a large garden and patio area which seats up to 150. The garden has two children's play areas one for the under fives and an activity centre for the older ones. The seating is traditional garden benches except on the patio where we have tables and chairs for extra comfort and heaters for those cooler times.

Our range of drinks include cask ales such as Greene King IPA and Fullers London Pride, Lagers such as Carling Black Label, Grolsch and Coors Fine Light. A comprehensive wine list and a wide selection of spirits and soft drinks.

Our food offering is traditional and varied and includes our famous extra mature scotch steaks as well as traditional British dishes, pasta, fish, daily specials and a healthy children's menu. Please follow the links above to see what's on offer.
