The Theatre School for young people who won't necessarily go into the Theatre

LET'S BE CLEAR - We can and do help youngsters with stars in their eyes. But a Stagecoach school is not only about that. Six to sixteen-year-olds sense the fun, excitement and drama surrounding the performing arts - we let them taste it. While Stagecoach teaches them to act, dance and sing, a new process begins. Teamed with like-minded friends they feel safe to stretch. At first some think 'I can't do this'. Only to realise later 'But I can!' The work makes them confident, poised and self-assured and when they believe more strongly in themselves they perform better in life. Schools run for three hours a week, mostly at weekends. We recruit only 45 students, who divide by age into groups of 15 - a small enough number to allow personal attention. Every hour groups rotate so that, by the end of three hours, all students have practised all disciplines.

Guidance, care and support Stagecoach teachers are experienced professionals who know how to motivate and encourage, especially self-doubters. Earlier in their lives many have been actors, singers, dancers, choreographers, musicians or directors. Students come to think more about theatre, dance, music and how we humans express ourselves. The older ones can discover themes explored by great writers and composers; this may kindle an interest in language, literature, writing, directing or producing. Stagecoach is the UK's first and largest three-discipline, part-time stage school. We have over 350 branches, so there is almost certainly one near you.
